'Soaring free', art journal, mixed media.
I used a preliminary layer of crumpled tissue paper, glued to the page to give texture, and then used mainly distress inks. The bottom bird is a beeswaxed image and so are the left hand poppyseed pods.
The left page wasn't turning out well and so I glued some crumpled deli paper over it, gessoed it, and redid the inks.
The quote under the clock says, 'At this time, nine charioteers drove the nine suns.' It is from an old Chinese poem but I don't know which one.
I used distress inks today, but next time I will try out my spray paints. I got a set of inexpensive spray paints from 'The Works' but not sure if they are acrylics or watercolours.
This spread became an exercise in textures I think, and also in preseverance....I was feeling a bit sickly this morning.
