Girls like flowers.

'Girls like flowers', art journal page, mixed media.

'Plaits', gel pen over text

'Short hair', gel pen over text

'Ponder', wax crayon over text

I have decided to keep one of my journals for just faces, or maybe faces and figures.

The top photo is a page spread in my faces journal from yesterday.  I like to write stuff on the blank page, cover it with gesso, and then do some visual art over the writings.

I find this helps when I have no idea what to do for the day....making the page relaxes me and gets me handling materials, and before long I am off on some art idea for the day.

The next 3 photos of faces on text are for the Show your face project.

This month the challenge is to do a face inspired by another artist in the group.  I chose the work of Magpieheaven,  Julie Ann Lee.  She showed some faces on book text which I loved and so I decided to do some text art too.

My first 2 faces are in gel pen.  Next,  I tried wax crayon over text.  I like both effects and now I have some faces to use in future art journalling pages.

See you later!

Wonderful work again, love both of the faces and the striking colours. It is sometimes funny what spell check does to our words, huh, had to smile at Marcellus! Hugs, Valerie

Your use of color blocks in your work amazes me. My brain has a hard time thinking that way and I have to sit and stare at your pages made in that manner for a very long time just to take in all of the lusciousness. I definitely pondered "Ponder" from your post today! :-)
