'Courting couple: owls.' Watercolours, A4 paper.
'African hunting dog.' Watercolours, A4 paper.
I am still playing around with watercolour animals, using both transparent watercolour and gouache.
The paintings are really rough sketches to try out techniques; rather than finished art works.
I have moved on from rainbow colours to more muted earth colours in these latest two, as not all animals suit the rainbow colouration, maybe because they are colourful enough in their natural coats!!
Well, I'm hoping it leads me somewhere. Hopefully, to a large composition with animals of some sort!
Materials:
1. transparent watercolours, Japanese Kuretake, and also Winsor & Newton
2. Gouache: Caran d'Ache and Winsor & Newton
Summer is definitely here.

Beautiful pieces, love the courting couple. Watched a pigeon courting his chosen lady too, he ran all fluffed up behind here and make strange cooing noises, but she didn't even give him a gance. That#s lie. have a good, new month, hugs, Valerie
Lovely owls and bold and beautiful hunting dog.
Happy and healthy June, dear June xx
