A study of a little chihuahua dog in watercolours for this week's art offering.
A new colour for me in this painting is raw sienna. I had been using yellow ochre for earth yellow but I didn't really like it and had switched to gold ochre,,,,which is good for skin tones in people, but a bit strong for other things. Luckily, raw sienna turned out to be just what I was looking for in an earth yellow. Its not too greenish and not too reddish, but just right!!
As for my subject matter, I love those perky little chihuahuas.
I first met one in NZ, many years ago. He was a long-haired, pale beige dog, whilst this one is more of a tan, short-haired, dog...but just as eager to play.

Well, I am very slowly getting back into routine of life after the holiday season. How about you?

Oh, super cute Chihuahua, June. You are very talented especially with animal paintings 🐰
I'm slow, too. My Christmas emphemera is still on 🎄
I wish you happiness, joy and health in 2022 😘
Your painting is wonderful! I like the colors you have chosen-your technique is so good...I have much to learn about using watercolors, but I really like them.
Haven't seen a post from you in a while-I do hope you are feeling well. Missing you and Susie!
