Flower of Rarotonga

 Mixed media.

'Flower of Rarotonga.'  Mixed media, 12 by 12 ins., paper.

This week, I added some layers to a painting I had started in 2016.  I used acrylics, collage and stencils, possibly also some pen lines in the artwork.

I call this girl, 'Flower of Rarotonga,'  but she is not meant to be a portrait of a Rarotongan woman, rather a memory of Rarotonga.

I visited this South Pacific island many years ago and was delighted at their custom of wearing flowers in their hair.  Men, women, boys and girls all did this.  It was very refreshing and festive to see.  I followed this custom for the few months I was there.

I also bought a wooden sculpture of a cat and so I included that in the painting.

Well, its the weekend again.  The sun is trying to shine but there's frost on the ground.

I hope you are well and looking forward to Christmas if you celebrate this holiday.

Bye for now.

From June and Susie.

She is lovely. Lucky you to see so wonderful places and people that you tell.
We've got a lot of new snow, and more has forecasted to come!
I took some photos from my balcony, and maybe show them in my blog later.
Enjoy the weekend; my greetings to Susie, as well :)

The painting is beautiful. You have a style that is perfected. I wish I could say the same! Susie is so pretty. She does love to be photographed!
