'Play nicely,' pen and ink, 12 ins sq., card
'Cockatoo on the vine', acrylic over gelli print background, A4, paper
The pen and ink was partly inspired by walks with my dog to our local park where there is a playground popular with little kids. I guess the mother hopes the children will play nicely without tears for at least five minutes,
I had a colourful +Gelli Arts gelli print background with a leaf design in my folder...printed up a few months ago...and this week I decided to add the white cockatoo to make an image.
I love cockatoos: I loved seeing them in natural surroundings in Sydney, Australia when I was on holiday there a few years ago; I also like to visit the talkative cockatoos at our local zoo; but my first encounter with a cockatoo was at my local pet shop in Scotland when I was about 7 years old. The way it took peanuts from my hand and opened them with its huge beak fascinated me back then! It also let me tickle its neck and talked. A wonderful experience for a child.
Have a lovely weekend. Bank holiday here in UK...and hoping for some sunshine.
Bye for now.

Your ink drawings fascinate me always. So unique art, June.
Gelli plate background is beautiful. Those colourful birds really are wonderful creatures.
Have a happy weekend xx
June, I'm such a huge fan of yours! I don't think it really matters what you do, I always love it! My favorite thing about your art is how you choose to express yourself through colors and the symmetry therein! Love both of your projects today! :) Blessings
Both are beautiful in their unique ways. I especially love the cockatoo.

I'm in love with those pen and ink drawings of yours ..... ♥
Wonderful artwork June but I'm a 'birdie' person so I am
of course drawn to your beautiful Cockatoo especially.
At first glance I thought it might have been pencil or pastel until I read it properly - love this!
Have a great weekend... its been too hot and humid this week down here on the Essex coast so hoping it might be a bit cooler today.

June, both of these pieces are excellent. The expressions on the faces tell a story. Very nice indeed.
Both paintings are amazing - and great to read how both were inspired !
