'Piece of fruit.' ink and pan pastels, A4 mixed media paper.
It was a hectic morning and this was done in between lots of other things which seemed to be happening.
First, a very quick doodle drawing with the sepia Pitt pen.
Then I added some darker washes over the lines and, finally, I added the pan pastels for colour.
This was an experiment to see if darker tonal washes of the sepia ink would help darken the final effect. They did... but only to a certain extent...perhaps I could use a mix of sepia and black ink in my washes to get the darkest tones. Otherwise, I have sent off for a few dark shades of pan pastels and they might be the best option for dark tones. Or perhaps.... black is best..... for the under-drawing!!
I think I may try this line drawing, tonal wash, pan pastel colour technique for more realistic portraits soon.
I hope you have a lovely weekend. Bye for now.
