My art journey.
I saw an Instagram post this morning, which suggests you think about what really makes you feel happy. Maybe make a list of what makes you truly happy, content, alive. Then concentrate on doing mainly those particular things in order to lead to a discovery of the true you. A journey of discovery.
So don't do what you think you should do, but do the things authentic to you.
This morning, whilst doing a watercolour painting, I realised I really do not like watercolour. I also do not like doing oils, oil pastels, charcoal, or graphite artwork. This group of mediums makes me frustrated, mostly because they are messy/or dirty to work with in one way or another.
On the other hand, I like using collage, acrylics, mixed media and pen/ink with pan pastels. This group make me happy whilst working. And although, I get messy with the sticky glue, I like it.
Over the years, I have kept persevering with all mediums, partly due to indecision, and partly to give people who buy my art, a range of mediums to choose from.
I think its now time to use techniques which make me happy. The second group!!!
Better late than never!
What are your preferred art mediums, and why? Or are you still undecided?
Bye for now....

You are so talented June, and make awesome art with so many mediums. But I understand that some are favourites. I must make what I have learned to do 😚 and it is not much 😱
Have a happy week 😘
You are so right. This is the only way to be happy. Collage, acrylics, mixed media are my faves and I stick to them. Hugs, Valerie
I agree. While its good to try all different kinds of media, for otherwise how are we to know what will suit, its lovely to settle on the one/s that make us happy.
I persisted with oils but they made me so frustrated. In the end, I enjoy using acrylics and watercolour - by themselves and sometimes combined (my rules lol).
(p.s. happy to have found you on Instagram June). Cheers :D) xx
