'African hornbill,' watercolour, A4, paper.
The African hornbill is a biggish bird, often seen hopping about on the ground beside mongoose families in wildlife documentaries,.
I saw a video of some mongoose pups trying to engage a hornbill in rough and tumble play. He looked down his bill in great surprise, rather like a bewildered professor. So I realised they are great characters and decided to paint one. My bird is fairly abstract.
Well, that's all for this week.
Have a lovely weekend.
Bye for now.
