Continuing my practice of painting birds in watercolour.

 Graphite, watercolour.

'In the thistle patch.'  Watercolour on paper, 8 by 11 ins approx.

Sketchbook drawing of goldfinch

'Bluetit on a branch.'   Watercolour on paper, 8 by 11 ins approx.

Sketchbook drawing of bluetit.

Continuing with birds this month.

Thanks to PMP-art.com for the photo references of the beautiful goldfinch and the charming bluetit.   These are both British birds seen fairly regularly at bird feeders.

I chose these two for their distinctive colouring.  So very nice to paint in watercolour.

I tried to keep to the reference as much as possible because I wanted to study their actual forms and colours.  In future art, I hope to stray from the photo and paint in a looser, or even abstract, manner in my bird art works.  But first things first...get the anatomy,  etc., correct!!

I hope you've had a good month so far.

Bye for now!!
