the orphaned sloth

Watching a TV programme on a rescued baby sloth yesterday. I did a couple of pen and ink doodles inspired by its plight.

'How's the orphan doing?'

'Creature on her shoulder,'

The programme was about rescuing baby animals.  One rescued animal was a sloth who also had pneumonia and so it was a bit of a battle to try and help him.  He had to have an inhaler, medication for his infection, and the dedicated care of one person, who kept him with her all the time, clinging to her body.

It was touch and go for a while.  I will have to tune in again today to see if he made it.

Update: the orphaned sloth got the all clear from the vet.  After some time in the sanctuary, the rescue workers hope to release him back into the wild.  They named him, Modoc.

You can volunteer to work in wildlife sanctuaries in Costa Rica:-

Bye for now.  Have a great weekend.

Your pen and ink pieces are fabulous! I love animals so and thought I would work with them as a living. But I'd have TOO hard a time letting them go. Happy PPF!

Beautiful ink work. I, too, have fallen in love with this medium lately...although my true love is colored pencil.
