Glazing with acrylics

Some art projects from this week.

1. 'Not a featherweight,' ATC.

2.'Blue hibiscus', acrylic glazing, 10 by 14 ins. approx.

 3. Susie's achievement: top of the bookcase

4. Its great up here.

Hello everyone.  Its freezing cold here today and trying to snow!

My news: Photo 2:

I tried out some acrylic glazing for the portrait 'Blue hibiscus'.  The girl was inspired by a copyright-free photo on one of the Facebook groups I joined. I didn't get a good likeness here.  The glazing technique in this work was not a big success.

Luckily, I can see ways I could improve, for example,  by using stiffer brushes in the under-painting stage to give a rougher livelier effect.  I got a tad frustrated with the number of glazes needed to bring colour to the grey under-painting!

Susie's news: Photos 3 and 4

This week Susie managed to jump up onto the top of one of the bookcases in the computer area.  She used my desk to jump up.  She was looking pretty pleased with herself at the end of it.

I hope you have a great weekend...whatever the weather!

Bye for now.

Beautiful work June, I especially love the blue hibiscus.
Susie is such a cutie and looks like she's waving from her high perch.
She's obviously pleased with her achievement.
Happy PPF to you

Great ATC - nice colours :)
Your hibiscus girl is really gorgeous June. Love her hair especially and the colours.
I don't know anything about glazing other than I know its in a book I had for Christmas and looks really interesting. (Acrylic color explorations by Chris Cozen).
No snow here yet. Had 5 minutes of sleet yesterday which came to nothing.
It'll probably snow on Monday as we're having a new gas boiler and other work and might not have heat until Tuesday..
Have a lovely weekend.. Gill xx

Hello June! Is your portrait done with the technique from LFI2017? I have done a second one of these also based on a photo that inspired me. It's an interesting process. I love this portrait you have done! It has a nice energy to it and I love the color. Happy PPF!

What a really lovely ATC, I love small art. I do like the blues and shapes and the elephant, all on a tiny card.
It's amazing how high cats can jump, I've seen one leap up a ten foot fence.

I'm not sure what glazing with acrylics means, but the painting with the girl is simply gorgeous. As for your acrobatic kitty, I hope she was able to get back down with ease.

I really like the strength portrayed by the woman in your painting. The strong color scheme really emphasizes it. Blessings!

'Blue hibiscus' is an absolutely stunning piece...the hair is so rich with texture and depth. I love this face so much and all the different dimensions. I had to visit and enlarge it several times I love it so much! I could see this on a book cover or a huge poster. It feels like a big story is behind the face and wind blown hair!!

You may not be entirely happy with the outcome of the glazing, but I think your Blue HIbiscus picture is absolute gorgeous
