I visited Wightwick Manor House on Tuesday this week. I went because its a local Tourist sight and because I'd heard they had good art collections. I went on the tour around the house to view art works by Rosetti, Burne-Jones and Holman-Hunt hung up on the walls. There was an old world flavour as the lighting was very low to preserve the art. My favourite was a small watercolour of a lady in a red dress but I had to rush to keep up with my tour guide and didn't get details. Need for a second visit?
Also, there was a gallery filled with art by Evelyn De Morgan, a female pre-Raphaelite painter that I first heard of this week by visiting the Manor house. What a delicious find. Her art was truly beautiful, especially loved her painting of Helen of Troy. I bought a postcard of her allegorical work, Phosphorus and Hesperus.
I bought the textile sampler and the spoon rest in the gift shop. I am looking forward to using the cloth in some art or maybe I will make a cushion cover with it.
Here's a link to a web page on the collections.
