Bird Mandala

Colour pencils on textured paper.

'Bird' mandala, colour pencils, paper, 9 ins sq., approx.

An experiment with colour pencil on textured watercolour paper.  I think I prefer smooth paper for making these designs.

I used a mixture of Polychromos and Luminance pencils.  Both quality artists colour pencils.

I don't use colour pencils much and I have yet to try out the various methods of applying colour (solid application versus layered) and blending colours (solvents, torchons, etc).  Looking forward to that!

I did this mandala on my lap tray watching TV and then listening to the radio.  Pencils are good for this.  But you could also use the new  +Winsor & Newton   watercolour pigment markers or maybe alcohol ink markers.

With the various combinations of medium and papers and mandala design...there are limitless possibilities for art work.

Have a lovely Sunday!

Bye....
